A practical note from Photo Play Studio

Dog or cat coloring page from a photo of your pet

Children love colouring their own pet. Photo Play turns a photo of your dog, cat or rabbit into a coloring page and five more printable activities. Try the free dog, cat and rabbit packs first, then use a photo of your own pet.

Six activities starring your pet

Each pack keeps your pet across 6 activities: a coloring page, color by number with a colour key, a numbered mosaic, connect the dots, a six-piece photo puzzle and a picture detective game. Children can colour their pet, count around it and rebuild it from puzzle pieces.

The best pet photos to use

Wait until your pet is resting, then take the photo at their eye level in good light. Get the whole animal in the frame with ears, paws and tail visible, and keep the background plain. Long or patterned fur creates many tiny shapes; a calm side or front view gives the cleanest drawing.

Check the drawing before printing

The drawing is inspired by your photo, not an exact portrait. AI may change markings, the shape of ears or the number of whiskers, and colour suggestions are estimates. Compare it with the photo, and if the line art is not suitable you may receive a clearly labelled photo-based pack instead.

A keepsake or a gift

A pet coloring page makes a simple gift for grandparents or a memory page for a pet who has died. Free tries are limited to 5 packs in any 24 hours, then one generation credit per pack, from US$0.99. Your pack is private and expires after 24 hours, so download the PDFs you want to keep.

Questions parents ask

Can I make a coloring page of my dog for free?

Yes. Free tries are limited to 5 packs in any 24 hours, with no signup. You get six activities built around your pet; if the line art is unsuitable, the pack uses a reference drawing based on the photo instead of a coloring page.

Does it work for cats with patterned fur?

Usually, but stripes and spots can become many small shapes or change in the drawing. A clear, well-lit side or front view works best.
