Questions before a little play
What you can download for free, how photo packs and credits work, and how to print at home.
What is Photo Play?
Photo Play turns one photo into a printable activity pack for kids. The free starter collection has 31 prepared packs, each with six activities based on one reference picture, plus a parent guide. You can also make a private pack from your own photo.
Can I turn my own photo into a coloring page today?
Yes. Choose a photo and confirm permission for AI processing, and Photo Play makes a private pack with a coloring page and five more activities, without signing up. Choosing alone does not upload it. Guest packs stay accessible in the same browser for 24 hours. An optional account lets you access them on other devices within that time.
Are the printable activities free?
Starter packs are free to download without an account. Making a pack from your own photo includes free tries, limited to 5 packs in any 24 hours. After that, each pack uses one generation credit: 1 credit costs US$0.99, 10 cost US$7.99 and 20 cost US$13.99. Buy credits on the web with PayPal or in the Android app with Google Play; an account is needed to buy and use them.
Why do packs from my own photo cost money?
Each pack from your photo is drawn by an AI image model and prepared on our servers, and every pack has a real cost to us. We’re sorry we can’t offer it all for free. The 31 starter packs stay free, free tries remain, and generation credits keep the service running. A portion of what we earn will go to causes that help children.
Can I download one activity instead of the full pack?
Yes. Open a pack, choose an activity and paper size, then select Download this activity for a one-page PDF. Download full pack includes all six activities and the parent guide.
Should I choose US Letter or A4?
Choose the size loaded in your printer: US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches and A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Download the matching PDF, print single-sided and start with Actual size. Use Fit if your printer clips the edges.
Which activities are inside each pack?
New photo packs include free colouring, colour by number, mosaic colouring, connect the dots, a six-piece picture puzzle and a picture detective game. Prepared starter packs have a three-scene drawing story instead of picture detective. The parent guide is a separate seventh page in the full pack.
Are these activities suitable for babies and younger children?
Choose activities with a caregiver based on the child’s readiness. Very young children can look at the picture and name things together with an adult. Numbered grids, 36–40-dot sequences and cutting activities require more readiness and adult help; not every activity is appropriate for every age.
Will the drawing and colours match my photo exactly?
No. AI line art can change facial features, poses and small details. New photo packs estimate colour-by-number colours from your photo and simplify it into a mosaic grid; colours and shapes may still differ. Starter packs use manually assigned colour keys. Compare the preview with your photo before printing.
Who can see my photo pack, and how long is it kept?
Your generated pack is private to your browser or account and expires after 24 hours. Authorized administrators can inspect generated results to troubleshoot the service. Save the PDFs before it expires. With your consent, the prepared photo is sent to the AI provider and we may privately keep it and AI drawings for up to 7 days for troubleshooting by authorised administrators. You can delete these images in Library. Your photo library original stays on your device. Public starter packs are separate from private photo packs.
Are the sample pictures real user photos?
No. The collection uses licensed or public-domain photographs, synthetic reference pictures and an original character. Any child shown in a sample is fictional. Photo sources and the illustration process are described with each pack.
